The draft was a exclusively male problem for men in their 20's from 1964 - 1975. The draft pool was about 27 million. That means 27 million men were threatened with a one way trip to Vietnam to be maimed or killed. 3.4 million men were deployed to Vietnam over those years. 58,220 men and a small number of women were killed in Vietnam.
These men starting careers and finding sweethearts were forced onto buses, trains and planes to go fight in an unpopular war. Many got back to find their girlfriend married someone else. Men who did get back alive were accused of being baby killers. Vietnam Vets were insulted for being killers. No way did a Vietnam Vet ever hear thank you for your service. Quite the opposite.
If you think that boomers had it easy think again.
