Slavery was a reality in the Conferate States almost exclusively. During the Civil War, 360,000 men in the Union Army lost their lives in a successful effort to end slavery. This in a population 1/10 of the current population. It’s been 158 years since slavery ended. Jim Crow laws against Blacks enforced in a few old Confederate states ended in the mid 1960’s.
In 2021, we should know much progress has been made against discrimination in America. It’s not 1619, nor is it 1860 and its not 1960 either. Yet some would have us believe that.
Probably our biggest current problem of discrimination is the lack of good education for our children in our poorer neighborhoods. Education is the great equalizer but we are certainly failing to give all kids a good education.
