I have to remember that 5.7 times.
I lived in the Chicago area and drove to Gary rather often through the war zone rather often. My sister lived in Gary. I saw first hand what happens to people stuck in a city after the big employer leaves town and people don’t have regular jobs. It seems like everything was either broken or destroyed in Gary. The Gary works was the biggest steel steel mill in the world when it was built. It employed 30,000 workers in the 1970’s with only 6,000 now. And more black jobs were disproportionately lost since Gary is 78.47% black. Again, we hear that word disproportionately, when we refer to a black population.
All lives are precious its not a black or white issue. It’s particularly awful that so many young children are killed in the city of Chicago. As a white person I don’t need special permission to show compassion for the unfortunate people in Chicago. The level of crime there is outrageous. Chicago has been a corrupt single party government since 1935. Time for a change. Honestly I think despite all the corruption in Chicago I think they were better off with the senior Daley, Richard J.
