Being one of those boomers sailing into retirement I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Ha ha. Being prosperous is simple. Spend less than your income. Avoid 18-22 % interest debt.
In my 20s and 30s I was always in trouble financially. After a while you find a profession you like and are able to do better financially.
My biggest concern in my 20s was getting killed in Vietnam. 58,000 of us did. Many came back in wheelchairs. For a while a half a million men and a few woman were ordered to Vietnam at once. These men who should have been starting careers and families were stuck in the Jungle. Many came back with a lifelong substance abuse problems. Their girlfriends married somebody else. You still see some returnees with the cardboard signs alongside the road. Please Help.
Victim mentality is rampant. We have single issue victims and “intersectional" victims. All kinds of reasons to make others feel sorry for you. Victimhood has become a religion based on a certain set of beliefs with high priests fervently spreading the “Word". Either you buy into it or you don’t. Buying into it means you aren’t accomplishing goals you could achieve. If you aren’t setting goals and meeting a few its time lost. Life is achieving, not achieving leads inevitably leads to depression. It’s your life. It’s your American dream, live it.
